Steve Carlson

Dr. Carlson joined M2 Anesthesia in May 2017. After graduation from the US Naval Academy in 1973, Dr. Carlson spent 2 years on a Destroyer in the North Atlantic before attending medical school at Tulane University in New Orleans. After graduation in 1979, he completed internship and residency at Naval Hospital San Diego and then a cardiac fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and Boston Children's Hospital. After spending 5 years on the teaching staff at San Diego, he moved to Oakland where he was the Anesthesia Department Chairman and Residency Program Director at Naval Hospital, Oakland. During the first Gulf War, Dr. Carlson served as the head of anesthesia aboard Hospital Ship USNS Mercy. After retirement from the Navy, he moved to Spokane, Wa where he was on the anesthesia staff at Sacred Heart Hospital from 1993 - 2007, and Shriner's Hospital for Children from 2007 - 2017.
