MD Board Certified Anesthesiologist

Jerry Kim

Jerry Kim, MD, has been a board-certified anesthesiologist since 2006. Until then, he had lived
his entire life on the East Coast. He was born in New York City to two naturalized US citizens,
who left home to find a better life for their children. Influenced by his mother, who worked as a
psychiatric nurse, he pursued the study of medicine in Philadelphia, where he completed his
MD and anesthesiology residency.

Fortunately for him, Dr. Kim then found his way to the Northwest to complete a pediatric
anesthesiology fellowship at Seattle Children’s Hospital. He felt gratitude for the chance to get
to know some of the strongest, yet sickest children in our region and help them on their road to
recovery. He also relished teaching students how to care for children using the most cutting-
edge techniques. Finally, he also conducted research in the areas of malignant hyperthermia
and improving patient safety using technology. When not at the hospital, he loves to read, run
on trails, go on long bike rides, play tennis, and snowboard on great NW powder.

But 2020 was a year that saw momentous change. Dr. Kim jumped at the opportunity to join
the wonderful and dedicated group of people who are M2 Anesthesia. The move from hospital-based to community-based medicine was a deliberate one. He wanted to join M2A in delivering
high-quality care out in the community where his young patients live, in settings more
comfortable and familiar to them.
